The outer part of the bearing is made of composite, which prevents galvanic corrosion. On the inside of the bearing is black nitrile rubber. The bearing is water lubricated to create a very thin layer between the rubber and the outer part, which prevents friction between the parts. It is not recommended to run this bearing dry as the temperature of the rubber will increase very quickly, which will destroy the bearing.
