The Davis Instruments Sonic Anemometer uses sound pulses to measure wind speed, and therefore does not require a traditional rotor. This makes it extra reliable and maintenance-free. The anemometer has an integrated battery that is charged by a solar panel on top.
The Sonic Wind Gauge can be used with a Davis EnviroMonitor Node to add wind data to the EnviroMonitor system. It can also be used as an additional wind gauge for your Davis weather station. Installed in a Sensor Transmitter (part no. 2346202), it can provide additional wind data to WeatherLink Live.
