The AMEC Widelink B600 is a SO-TDMA Class B AIS. The biggest advantage of this type of AIS technology is that it transmits more frequently when you are moving at high speed. Regular AISs based on CS technology transmit every 30 seconds regardless of your speed. SO-AISs like this one will transmit more frequently when the speed is higher, thus providing more accurate position information. This makes the Widelink B600 particularly well suited for fast-moving vessels.
Widelink B600 has 5W transmitter power, integrated GPS, multi-channel receiver, and can receive signals from both Class A and Class B AIS. It can be easily connected to a chartplotter and PC via NMEA2000/0183 or USB.
